Underwire Bra Live Virtual Workshop // 2 Sessions // Starts Mar 1
You heard us right. We're making bras! Get out of your comfort zone and make a bra that's actually supportive!
In this class, students will be making the Marlborough Bra by Orange Lingerie, which has cup sizes options of A to DD or DDD to J, with band sizes from 30 to 40.
As described by the pattern designer, the Marlborough is a supportive full frame underwire bra for everyday wear, featuring:
- A three piece cup and power bar that allows for increased shaping and more ability to play with pattern prints and color combinations;
- A comfortable scoop back that lies smoothly under clothes and enhances support; and
- A lace upper cup
- Working with stretch lace, sheer nylon and tricot
- Sewing with zig zag stitches
- Working with several types of elastic
- Curved seams and underwire channels
- Attaching rings, sliders and clasps
Pattern and materials not provided. You will receive an email ahead of time with a list of all supplies to have for class.
Skill Level: Intermediate, Advanced. You are comfortable on a sewing machine and have made several projects in the past, ideally with some experience in stretch fabric. You may be new to bra making or underwire bras..
Virtual Class Info: This is a VIRTUAL CLASS hosted live on Zoom. After registering, you will receive an email from the instructor with Zoom access instructions as well as the supply list and any other information you may need to participate. You will log in at the designated times, and the instructor will walk you and the other participants through each step of the construction process. We will record each Zoom meeting and you can re-watch any part of the class, so even if you need to miss part of the live class you can still catch up. All students may be expected to do up to an hour of extra "homework" in between sessions to stay on pace.
Pattern and materials not included. You will receive the supply list from the instructor with details about how to get the pattern and what fabrics to search for. You will be expected to cut your fabric ahead of time so the class will focus on sewing only. We'll send you a quick video ahead of time showing you how to cut your fabric. Though not required, we recommend having a rotary cutter & cutting mat to make the process of cutting lace much easier!
