Fitting Basics // 5 Weeks // Starts September 12
Learning how to fit patterns to your body is one of the most useful skills you can have in your toolbox as a sewist--there's nothing more frustrating than spending hours stitching up a pattern you're excited about in a beautiful fabric only to realize the finished product doesn't fit! While fitting is an essential skill for creating a handmade wardrobe you can feel good about, it can be a difficult thing to master on your own. That's where we come in!
Join us for our fitting class, where you learn the basics of fitting a pattern. You will choose (or we can offer suggestions) a dress or shirt pattern (men's or women's) and learn how to fit that pattern to your body using the muslin fit method and then how to transfer those fit adjustments to your pattern.
In this class you will focus your time on learning fitting techniques so that you can begin fitting your own patterns at home. This class assumes you will understand the construction techniques of the garment you choose, so please choose a pattern that is appropriate for your current skill level. In the case that your fitting process moves quickly, you can choose a second pattern for help with fit.
Skill Level: Intermediate to Advanced. You have made a few garments and understand general construction techniques. You can read size charts, cut fabric independently, and generally understand how sewing patterns work.
5 Weeks; 15 hours of instruction
Please read our class policies before registering for a class.
