Classic Tee Live Virtual Workshop // 1 Day // Feb 21
We're taking one of our popular Sewing Knits workshops to Zoom! Join us as we sew a classic t-shirt together AT HOME in this live virtual class.
Stretchy fabrics make up a large portion of our daily wardrobe from loungewear to activewear, so why not learn to sew with them? We lead you through the basics so you understand the characteristics of knit fabrics and how to tame them.
Workshop project: Participants will create a women's or men's short or long-sleeved tee with a crew or coop neck. Your pattern options are:
- Grainline Studio Lark Tee - sizes 0-18. You can choose to do the boat neck, crew neck, or scoop neck. You can do cap, short, 3/4 or long sleeves.
- Cashmerette Concord Tee - sizes 12-32 with C/D, E/F, & G/H cup size options. You can choose the short, elbow-length or long sleeves.
- Oliver & S Metro Tee for men
- Sewing knits on a regular sewing machine or a serger to keep seams stretchy
- Attaching neck band (quartering & stretching to fit)
- Setting in sleeves
- Hemming with knits
You do not need a serger at home to take this class. You will learn how to sew knits on a regular sewing machine.
Skill Level: Advanced Beginner to Intermediate. You MUST already feel comfortable threading and operating a sewing machine and sewing at an accurate seam allowance. It's okay if you're new to sewing garments, but you should feel somewhat comfortable cutting out fabric on your own since that will be required ahead of class.
Virtual Class Info: This is a VIRTUAL CLASS hosted live on Zoom. After registering, you will receive an email from the instructor with Zoom access instructions as well as the supply list and any other information you may need to participate. You will log in at the designated times, and the instructor will walk you and the other participants through each step of the construction process. We will record each Zoom meeting and you can re-watch any part of the class, so even if you need to miss part of the live class you can still catch up. All students may be expected to do up to an hour of extra "homework" in between sessions to stay on pace.
Pattern and materials not included. You will receive the supply list from the instructor with details about how to get the pattern and what fabrics to search for. You will be expected to cut your fabric ahead of time so the class will focus on sewing only. We'll send you a quick video ahead of time showing you how to cut your fabric.
