Sewing 101 // 4 weeks // Starts May 5, May 7 or May 11
When in doubt, start at the very beginning. This course is designed to give novice stitchers a comprehensive foundation in machine sewing. Students will make a lined, zippered fold-over clutch or laptop bag, and will graduate with the confidence to begin tackling anything.
- Machine threading and operation: sewing straight lines, pivoting, backstitching, changing machine settings, troubleshooting
- Textile selection
- Pattern layout, grainlines, and cutting techniques
- Seaming and topstitching
- Fusing interfacing
- Incorporating a lining
- Attaching a patch pocket
- Installing a zipper
- Attaching hardware (snaps, D-rings)
Skill Level: Novice. No experience needed.
Project materials not included. You do not need to bring anything to the first week and we will go over all the supplies you need to purchase by the second class.

Section 4 (1912 South St): 4 Sundays 5-8pm on May 5, May 12, May 19 & Jun 2. Please note this section skips May 26 for Memorial Day weekend. We WILL be holding it on Mother's Day (May 12) so make sure you won't have evening plans that day :)
Section 5 (800 S 8th St): 4 Tuesdays 6-9pm on May 7, May 14, May 21 & May 28
Section 6 (800 S 8th St): 4 Saturdays 1-4pm on May 11, May 18, Jun 1 & Jun 8. Please not this section skips May 25 for Memorial Day weekend.
