Toaster Sweater Live Virtual Workshop // Starts Oct 27

Fall is coming, but we'll be toasty with the Toaster Sweater, a popular sewing pattern for knits that's a stylish spin on a sweatshirt. This project whips up no time and is a great building block for your handmade wardrobe.

Workshop project: Participants will create the Toaster Sweater, a pattern by Sew House Seven with two style options.
Version 1 is a closer fitting, semi-cropped sweatshirt/sweater with raglan sleeves, a wide waistband, loose turtleneck, long cuffs and hits between the high and low hip.
Version 2 is somewhat fitted through the shoulders and sleeves and swings out at the underarms. It features a semi-high-neck in a funnel style, and has mitered side vents with a subtle hi-lo hem.

Skills covered:
- Sewing with stretch stitches on a regular sewing machine or a serger
- Attaching turtlenecks, cuffs and bands (version 1)
- Neck facings and mitered hems (version 2)
- Topstitching

Skill Level: Advanced Beginner to Intermediate. You MUST already feel comfortable threading and operating a sewing machine and sewing at an accurate seam allowance. It's okay if you're new to sewing garments, but you should feel somewhat comfortable cutting out fabric on your own since that will be required ahead of class.

Virtual Class Info: This is a VIRTUAL CLASS hosted live on Zoom. After registering, you will receive an email from the instructor with Zoom access instructions as well as the supply list and any other information you may need to participate. You will log in at the designated times, and the instructor will walk you and the other participants through each step of the construction process. We will record each Zoom meeting and you can re-watch any part of the class, so even if you need to miss part of the live class you can still catch up. All students may be expected to do up to an hour of extra "homework" in between sessions to stay on pace.

Pattern and materials not included. You will receive the supply list from the instructor with details about how to get the pattern and what fabrics to search for. You will be expected to cut your fabric ahead of time so the class will focus on sewing only.

Location: Online! You will need to download Zoom to your computer or device.
