Visible Mending @ Evil Genius // 2-Hr // June 25

Join us in collaboration with Evil Genius Brewery for a meditative evening of stitching, beer, and good company as we explore the art of visible mending through darning. We'll gather in a semi-private space within Evil Genius's industrial-chic brewpub, where you'll be able to enjoy their popular beers and small bites while learning a timeless textile repair technique.

Darning is a traditional method used to repair holes, worn areas, and thinning fabric with woven stitches. Once a practical necessity for extending the life of garments, darning has experienced a resurgence as makers seek creative ways to reduce waste and celebrate the stories behind the clothes they love.

Rather than hiding repairs, visible mending transforms them into a design feature. In this workshop, you'll learn how to reinforce and repair worn textiles using colorful threads and simple weaving techniques that add both strength and character. We will provide fabric samples for practice, but we also encourage you to bring a well-loved garment in need of repair. While darning can be used on sweaters, socks, denim, and knitwear, woven fabrics such as jeans, jackets, and button-down shirts tend to be the easiest place for beginners to start.

As we become more mindful of the environmental impact of fast fashion, visible mending offers a satisfying way to care for our belongings, reduce textile waste, and embrace the beauty of imperfection.

Participants must be 21+.
