Sewing Knits: Cardigan // 1 Day // Apr 4

Learn to sew with knits! Stretchy fabrics make up a large portion of our daily wardrobe from loungewear to activewear, so learning to sew with them is a huge skill builder. We lead you through the basics so you understand the characteristics of knit fabrics and how to tame them.

Workshop project: Participants will create a women's open-front cardigan with different length options. The pattern used is the Blackwood Cardigan by Helen's ClosetIt comes in sizes 0-30 with B-cup and D-cup options.


Skills learned:
- Working with a pattern, taking body measurements, reading size charts
- Basic pattern modifications, if needed
- Rotary cutting
- Sewing stretch stitches on a regular sewing machine or a serger
- Attaching bands
- Setting in sleeves

Skill Level: Advanced Beginner, Intermediate. You MUST already feel comfortable threading and operating a sewing machine, but you may be new to sewing garments. If you are a novice sewer, please check out our Sewing 101 course instead.

Pattern and materials not included. You will be purchasing and printing your own digital pattern, and sourcing your fabric before class. An instructor will reach out to you with a supply list and more information about the pattern printing process.
