Sewing Knits: Cardigan // 1 Day // Apr 27
Learn to sew with knits! Stretchy fabrics make up a large portion of our daily wardrobe from loungewear to activewear, so learning to sew with them is a huge skill builder. We lead you through the basics so you understand the characteristics of knit fabrics and how to tame them.
Workshop project: Participants will create a women's open-front cardigan with different length options. The pattern used is the Blackwood Cardigan by Helen's Closet.
- Knits vs. wovens; different types of knits
- Rotary cutting
- Sewing with knits on a regular sewing machine or a serger
- Attaching bands
- Setting in sleeves flat
Skill Level: Advanced Beginner. You MUST already feel comfortable threading and operating a sewing machine, but you may be new to sewing garments. If you are a novice sewer, please check out our Sewing 101 course instead.
Pattern and materials not included. An instructor will reach out to you with a supply list before the start of class.
