Intro to Machine Appliqué with Funhouse Studio // 1 Day // Oct 9
Give a favorite garment or tote a whole new personality in this playful introduction to machine appliqué! In this beginner-friendly workshop, guest instructor Sharon Hillman of Funhouse Studio will teach you how to create, assemble, and machine-sew your own appliquéd design.
Sharon will guide you step by step through the appliqué process—from choosing or drawing your design and cutting your fabric pieces to applying fusible interfacing and using a zig-zag stitch to securely sew your design in place. Choose from provided stencils or create something completely your own!
You’ll leave with a one-of-a-kind appliquéd garment or tote, along with the skills and confidence to keep adding appliqué to clothing, bags, quilts, and more at home.
Materials Needed: Please bring one woven garment or tote bag you'd like to appliqué. Button-up shirts and items made from canvas, twill, chambray, or denim are great choices. You’re also welcome to bring quilting cotton scraps you'd like to incorporate into your design. All other supplies, tools, and materials will be provided.
No appliqué experience needed! Basic sewing machine familiarity is helpful.
