Flat Patternmaking // 5 Weeks // Starts Sept 10
You can create truly one-of-a-kind designs once you learn the basics of patternmaking!
Students learn how to manipulate basic block patterns (called slopers) to create an infinite number of styles. We teach both the pivotal transfer and slash and spread methods for creating any silhouette from a basic pattern as well as the fundamentals of creating your own patterns from scratch. These foundational techniques are a must have for anyone desiring to alter existing patterns or turn their original designs into real life garments. Patternmaking for traditional men's garments is not covered in this class. Students will not develop a sloper from their personal measurements.
Skill Level: Intermediate to Advanced. You must have some experience working with other sewing patterns, making some garments, and understanding basic design changes or fit adjustments. Taking Sewing 301 beforehand or having similar experience is recommended.
Class size is limited. For information relating to class policies and safety protocols for COVID-19, please click here.
